Straw colour with greenish reflections, bright. Intense, persistent floral and vegetable aroma with note of lime and balsamic. At the palate the vegetable notes are predominant, smooth and full with good depth and well balanced, with a long persistent aftertaste. Fresh, crisp and mineral. Ted Manousakis’ story is both the “American Dream” and Nostos- the greek word meaning “a yearning to come home.” Ted was born in the Cretan village of Vatolakkos in 1943 and left for America eleven years later. He grew up to be a successful entrepreneur, businessman, and restauranteur in D.C. In 1993, he returned home to plant his first vineyard and fulfill his Cretan heritage of winemaking . Manousakis established themselves with Rhône varietals to showcase the unique terroir influenced by the Lefka Ori Mountains of Western Crete. There is an extraordinary sensory adventure in those mountains with rosemary, thyme, sage, lavender, and camomile scenting the air. Today, Ted’s youngest daughter Alexandra an artist has taken the helm with her husband Swedish-Persian chef and sommelier, Afshin Molavi, who helps with the operation.
