Grins Restaurant opened its doors on Valentine’s Day 1975 and is owned and operated by two Texas State graduates – Paul Sutphen and Johnny Ferrell. In 1975, Grins served nachos, two styles of burgers and draft beer. The restaurant could hold up to 60 customers. Today, we allow service dogs only. We can also accommodate up to 250 customers and have an extensive menu to choose from. Our world-famous hamburgers and Texas sized onion rings are favorites among San Marcos residents, as well our award winning salsa. We are also know to have one of the best happy hours in town. For more than 40 years Grins has served the residents of San Marcos and the students at Texas State. So, come find out for yourself what makes us so unique!
